Needless to say, the GIB (robot) was west in both of these deals. Both contracts went down 2, and I must say I had a mighty fine dummy both times.

I also love finding people who are frisky bidders to play against on money bridge on bridge base. The GIBs simply don't understand sacrifices, psyches, and other such bidding tactics. Yesterday I had the pleasure of getting +2000 when my RHO human opened 1S on a 1-6-3-3 hand with 3 hcp. Unfortunately, I was only at the 1/2 cent per point table.

Latest GIB Lunacy

So, the robot didn't really do anything strange at my table. We had a sane auction to 6NT. With other players I'm sure I could have gotten to 7D or right-sided 6NT, but 3D over 2D apparently wouldn't have been forcing so the only way to blackwood in diamonds would have been 4NT immediately over 2D. Anyway, the lunacy is in the traveller. I sat west while most of the humans playing with 3 robots sat south. Check out the traveller and notice that every other table played 1D so the GIB really passed 1D with a 17 count?

Psyching with a GIB: Bad Idea

This psyche by my opponent led to an incredibly bad result. He was in 3rd seat for the 1S opening. This led to the robot bidding 4S, doubled and down 8. He managed to take 2 tricks - the diamond ace and spade queen. +2300 to me.

+1740

The beginning of the auction was P - P - 1S (by moshel). What this guy was thinking and what my robot was thinking by bidding 5H over my redouble I have no idea. I lucked out that my robot proceeded to make 7 for 1740. I should have just passed 5DX and taken +950 or 1150 if for no other reason than they might run to 5S which reasonably might be expected to be down only 2.

Moral of the story: Be very conservative when playing with robots. They can't take a joke or a psyche or a sacrifice, and be sure to check the little blip that explains what it thinks your bid means.
